We are thrilled to have been working with Portsmouth Football Club over the last few months to help them identify where they could make positive changes to their ‘green game’.

Plastics and other waste that goes straight to landfill are being replaced with environmentally-friendly replacements. The team have already taken steps towards supporting the environment, with reusable drinks bottles now being used at their training ground in Copnor.

As well as switching to recyclable matchday programmes and energy-efficient lightbulbs, the club will also be broadcasting messages from players on the big screen, promoting car sharing and other eco-friendly advice.

The team are also considering a deposit return scheme for plastic cups at the ground to reduce the huge volume of single use cups used at matches.

Nellie, the Final Fat Fish, will also be visiting the club in the future to further raise awareness of the issues around plastic pollution.

A full audit of the club’s plastic waste will also be taking place, so that we can accurately track the difference these changes have on matchdays.

Thank you so much to the team and management for embracing this campaign and we are looking forward to seeing these positive changes in action.
